Gala Keynote Scott Stern

Our keynote speaker, Scott Stern, is the recently appointed Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, as well as a Dakota Rising mentor. Scott is from Freeman, South Dakota, where he was vice president and general manager of his family’s company, Stern Oil, before taking a position with Petro-Canada America as a district sales manager. He also served twice on the city council and was involved in the leadership of the Freeman Chamber of Commerce and Freeman Economic Development Corporation.

Meet Our Graduating Fellows

Dakota Rising Fellows are rural entrepreneurs chosen for their passion, tenacity, professionalism and commitment to community. After successful three years in the Dakota Rising Fellowship program, we are proud to graduate an amazing group of change makers who are truly making a difference for rural South Dakota.
