As a child, growing up on a farm twelve miles south of Dante, South Dakota, Cheryl Swatek learned many of her cooking and baking skills from her mother and grandmother. Some of her fondest memories growing up were being in the kitchen with her grandmother making homemade kolaches, which are now a staple at her bakery. In 1995 she decided to try her hand at cake decorating. Over the next twenty years, Swatek would become a self-taught cake artist who worked her way through the restaurant and cake industry at many levels.
Since opening her commercial storefront in 2014, in Wagner, South Dakota, she recalls upon her favorite memories with her grandmother to provide the community with homemade, never frozen, treats that are reminiscent of her childhood and a time gone by. The bakery, known as a family-run business, is located on Main Street Wagner. If you stop by for a coffee, expect to be greeted by her husband, Johnny, and other members of her family.
